At Collective, we believe in the power of real talk. We believe that employees are more than just a metric and that truly listening to their experiences is key to understanding what dynamic workforces really want from their employers. Collective Thoughts provides insights into the state of today's workplaces and what's actually moving the needle when it comes to inclusive, highly engaged teams.
DEI still matters, but the way you do it matters more
The naysayers have arrived en masse this year, capitalizing on industry-wide burnout. “DEI doesn’t work,” they say. “DEI is a distraction, a waste of time, and ‘woke’ propaganda.” At Collective, we like to think of ourselves as “truth-tellers,” and here’s our two cents: DEI works, but it hasn’t been working as well as it could.
Should inclusion really include “all?”
As a DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) consultant, I’ve sat in dozens of offices around the country observing everything in the culture that is said and done. With most of my clients based in NY or California, the leaders I work with tend to be quite progressive, and, like many forward-thinkers, most of them avow they want to make sure their cultures are inclusive of, “all people.” Their commitment to this work is admirable and obvious.
But in turbulent political times, I’ve watched them try to find their footing and voice when it comes to where they — and their company — stand when it comes to Trump.
